Andrea was raised in Randolph County in north central West Virginia. She initially became interested in physical therapy during an internship in high school, and went on to attend West Virginia University where she graduated with a bachelor’s in athletic training. She then graduated with her doctor of physical therapy (DPT) from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston.
Andrea has had a wide variety of outpatient experiences working with patients involving orthopedic, sports medicine, and neurologic diagnoses. An interest in vestibular rehabilitation led her to attend the Herdman Vestibular Therapy course at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where she received a certificate of achievement. At her previous job in southeastern Ohio, she assisted with the development of a vestibular center, successfully treating individuals with balance and equilibrium disorders. During her time in graduate school and while practicing as a physical therapist, Andrea had also held positions as a per diem athletic trainer, primarily working with high school aged athletes. Among many other skilled interventions, she implemented cutting edge screening techniques to find weak links to her athlete’s functional capacity in the clinical setting. This allows for more precise exercise prescription and manual therapy techniques to assist for pain free muscle recruitment and function.
She is a member of the Orthopedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Vestibular Disorders Association. She is currently participating in a 2 year long orthopedic manual therapy course series to further advance her skills and knowledge. She also recently received her board certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) which required treating over 2000 hours of orthopedic patients and passing a board certified exam consisting of evidence based literature questions.
In the past 6 years, Andrea has worked very diligently specializing and advancing her knowledge and skills to give her the capacity to do what she enjoys most which is experiencing the greatest satisfaction of helping patients truly achieve their goals through the quickest and most effective means possible.
Andrea and her husband Jeff enjoy traveling and participating in outdoor activities.
