Lee Baker

Physical Therapist, PT, CPT

My Story

Background
I grew up in Virginia Beach and Orlando, Florida, as the son of a naval officer. I earned a Bachelor of Health Science in Physical Therapy, an Associate of Arts in Biblical Studies, and hold certification as a personal trainer.

Professional Experience
With over 42 years of experience, my career has focused on neurorehabilitation and community development. I have served as a sports coordinator at the Seminole YMCA and spent time in Nepal working in community development and primary health care. My training includes mentorship under Andrea Behrman and Karen Swayer at the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center. Additionally, I co-founded Shenandoah Valley Physical Therapy with Doug Rohr. I have a passion for helping individuals with
neurologic conditions such as Parkinson’s, stroke, incomplete spinal cord injury and limb loss patients.

Why Physical Therapy?
My journey began after a high school pole-vaulting injury. I have always loved movement and am passionate about helping others stay active and regain mobility.

Areas of Interest
I am deeply interested in brain function and neuroplasticity, particularly the restorative benefits of intense functional movement and its ability to change recovery trajectories.

Personal Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, scuba diving, swimming, cross-cultural travel, and sharing stories about my experiences in Nepal.
